Shrines of Buddha Shakyamuni, Avalokiteśvara, and Boddhisattva Xuanzang (Alayavijnana is Root of Buddha Dharma)

Three shrines of Buddha Shakyamuni.

How great and precious! The shrines of Buddha and Boddhittvas! It's not easy to see them at one time, in one place. The True Enlightenment Practitioners Association held a relic ceremony on September 8, 2013, for shrines of Buddha Shakyamuni, Avalokiteśvara, and Boddhisattva Xuanzang.

What Is the Three Dharma-Seals About? (10)

Then how should we understand the meaning of Emptiness Samadhi? (This is very important)

Then can we use the dharma-seal of “nirvana being tranquil” to subsume all dharma-seals?

We have gone over the basics of the Three Dharma-Seals, and the Buddha dharma has to be examined from every possible facet.

In the Buddha dharma, the mirror is also called the “Mani jewel or Diamond true mind, etc.” which every sentient being innately possesses. This Mani jewel manifests one’s physical body and one’s seeing, hearing, perceiving and knowing mind. Then one’s physical body and the seeing, hearing, perceiving and knowing mind arise and vanish, arise again and vanish again life after life relying on this everlasting Mani jewel that remains unstirred, the same way as that of a mirror purely reflecting the images on its surface.

If we take the three scenarios and change the subjects in them into human beings, you can see that the first group of people are most ignorant and have the least wisdom because they cannot even tell that the image in the mirror is not real.

We have said that the purpose of learning the Buddha dharma is to attain liberation from births-and-deaths, then what is the perspective from the Buddha dharma regard births and deaths?

Here we can see that the Three Dharma-Seals actually describes two classes of dharma in the dharma-realm.

These two kinds of dharma are entirely different from each other in nature, with one class being the dharma of an arising-and-ceasing nature and the other a neither-arising-nor-ceasing nature. The latter is nirvana, or the eighth vijnana Tathagatagarbha.

The realization of the Three Dharma-Seals can bring forth in a Mahayana bodhisattva the insightful samadhi of liberation with regard to the overall reality of the three realms, together with the wisdom of true reality and the prajna wisdom. The level of the Three Samadhis he has realized thus surpasses the ones realized by sound-hearers.

Some people think that here the Buddha was talking about the Three Samadhis rather than the Three Dharma-Seals.

In reality, the Three Samadhis are the same as the Three Dharma-Seals. Other sutras in the Agamas Sutras also contain numerous accounts of the Emptiness Samadhi, No-Appearance Samadhi and Samadhi of Having Nothing, also known as the Emptiness Samadhi, No-Appearance Samadhi and Wishlessness Samadhi, or the Emptiness Samadhi, No-Appearance Samadhi and No-Fabrication Samadhi. These Three Samadhis actually refers to the Three Dharma-Seals.

One may ask: Why were the Three Dharma-Seals called the Three Samadhis?

These practices have nothing to do with Buddhist cultivation of attaining liberation or enlightenment.

Q: Nowadays, do you know how many Westerners (and Asian alike) truly believe that by descending bright drop (bindu, an imagined light spot in the body) and having sex can be a way to achieve enlightenment or attain Buddhahood?

Hereafter (2010) - Realistic Tsunami Scene (Life is Impermanent)

TK.: We enjoy our lives, sunshine, delicious foods and love which could cease in every moment. Buddha Shakyamuni tells us, the life of sentient beings and the material world are impermanent. A wise person will look for the permanent one in him -- Alayavijnana which he can rely on for ever.

All Formations are Impermanent and Belong to the Dharma of Arising and Ceasing

Hence, the Tathagata immediately says in verse: All formations are impermanent and belong to the dharma of arising and ceasing; after the extinction of all that arises and ceases, the cessation shall bring a state of bliss. Having stated the verse, the Tathagata then tells all bhiksus, “You should know that all formations are truly impermanent. Although now I belong to the vajra entity, unavoidably my physical body is still impermanent and subject to change. It is extremely dreadful to be in the cycle of births and deaths; you should practice diligently with a view to getting away from this fiery pit of births and deaths as soon as possible. This is the last instruction of mine.” - The Great Nirvana Sutra, Vol. 3

Buddha nature refers to the stateless state of nirvana, and possesses other names as the eighth vijnana, Tathagatagarbha, Buddha, enlightened, true-suchness, no-mind mind, true mind, Alayavijnana, etc.

Must first realize the Tathagatagarbha, then can truly have deep faith in the Three Jewels

To tame one’s conscious mind and Manas in complete accordance with the dharma-nature of True Suchness, one must personally realize the Tathagatagarbha before one can convert to the straight mind. The conscious mind or the Manas can never be the straight mind due to their crooked nature. Only can Tathagatagarbha be straight-minded from endless eons in the past until Buddhahood, and ever after. To behave like the straight mind, sentient beings must first realize the Tathagatagarbha, and then directly witness that it has always been straight-minded since eons without a beginning and even after eons without an end. Only this way can sentient beings truly convert to the straight mind and behave accordingly. Then, sentient beings can truly have deep faith in the Three Jewels. Otherwise, how could they be fully convinced that the Three Jewels do have infinite merits and virtues? Thus, it is indeed not easy to have the deep faith and its prerequisite is to realize the Tathagatagarbha.

Discovery: Past Lives - Stories of Reincarnation (language: English)

TK: Alayavijnana is the origin of every life form. Without Alayavijnana there will be no sentient beings. The rebirths exist due to the Alayavijnana 阿賴耶識、如來藏 and Mana 末那 (the 7th vijnana, the root of consciousness 意根). This is the truth of universe we can not deny.

The Functions of the Five Aggregates

The conscious mind is pivotal in Buddhist cultivation; it serves as a tool but not the final target. Because it is a worldly dependent arising dharma, as the Buddha stated, “All states of the consciousness arise depending on the conditions of the Manas (the seventh vijnana) and the mental object.” (Long Agama Sutra, volume 9). In Buddhism, we seek the eternity, not a dependent arising and ceasing dharma.
